Learning Spanish at Otra Ola will help you stay young.

Learning a second #language can slow the aging of your brain. Crazy I know. There was a #study done at the University of Edinburgh on this very subject. The researchers found that reading, verbal fluency and intelligence were improved in a study of 262 people tested aged 11 to their seventies. This brings up a very interesting finding. It doesn't matter when you learn a second language, the outcome is the same. A previous study even suggested that being bilingual can delay the onset of dementia by several years. This study was published in the Annals of Neurology. I am not going to go into all the details but some interesting findings were that those who spoke two or more languages had significantly better cognitive abilities compared to those who only spoke one language. The strongest effects were seen in general intelligence and reading and it didnt matter at what age the language was learned. Pretty interesting stuff. If you were considering #studying #spanish while travelling here is another reason to come #study #spanish at #OtraOla and take advantage of our #yoga and #surfclasses also well on #vacation in south america.
